The adventure

We'll meet at a local surf shop to get set up with a board and wetsuit. Then, we'll share surfing fundamentals, safety, and etiquette as well as review wave dynamics, positioning, and proper stand-up technique. With the backdrop of one of the country's most beautiful coastlines, this is a day you won't forget. Wet-suits and board rentals are available where we meet. Other things to note Equipment rental (board / wetsuit) rate is normally $40. Rentals are available at the shop where we meet.

The plan

1. Meet at the Surf Shop

We'll meet up at a local surf shop to get set up with boards and wetsuits. Equipment rentals (board & wetsuit) is $40. Please park in the North End Lot of Stinson Beach Public Parking Lot. There is no parking at the surf shop where we meet. From there you can walk on the beach to the shop (about 5 minutes, or on the road, which is slightly further). If you walk on the beach you will pass about 2 houses and then head towards the road to find the shop. Please note - weekends throughout the summer it can be very hard to find a parking spot at Stinson Beach. We strong suggest arriving at least 20 minutes early to be sure to find parking.

Oli or Oliver was our instructor. The equipment rented from the Stinson Beach Surf and its pretty close to the place to where you start the surf lesson. One adult and 3 kids all beginners, Oli went over the basics quickly [technical and extremely useful] and gave us all enough time to get started. Correcting a few things on the way and helping us improving and the class went by. Great beginner class and I am hooked to surfing as are my kids.

Location

We'll meet in the town of Stinson Beach, one of California's most inspiring settings. We'll pick up wetsuits and boards at Stinson Beach Surf and Kayak shop before heading to the water and starting the lesson. On Weekends I suggest arriving early (around 9) to ensure finding a parking spot. Then grab breakfast at Parkside Cafe and walk to our meeting location. Important parking information - Please park in the North End Lot of Stinson Beach Public Parking Lot. There is no parking at the surf shop where we meet. From there you can walk on the beach to the shop (about 5 minutes, or on the road, which is slightly further).
