The adventure

If you are brand new to climbing and/or have started in the gym with indoor climbing, this class is for you! Discover what outdoor rock climbing is all about in this 4-hour clinic designed for the beginning rock climber. No climbing experience is necessary. We will get you up on your first climbs. Additionally, we’ll share the sense of adventure that drives our guides’ passion for the sport, and provide you with the most enjoyable first day of climbing possible. We’ll begin with an introduction to climbing gear, climbing commands, and climber tie-in knots. Then we’ll spend the remainder of our time climbing with your instructor belying you and coaching you through each climb on technique and route selection. This class is a great opportunity to get exposure to outdoor climbing in a safe, supportive, fun and nurturing environment. We’ll take care of setting up the ropes and providing a positive learning experience for the beginning rock climber. You get to explore what it’s all about! Other things to note Please arrive 20 minutes early to park. This is a group class, we cannot hold up other participants for late parties. Arriving late is the same as a no-show and will forfeit your registration.

This was my first time climbing and I had an awesome time! If you are looking to try out climbing, definitely book this adventure!

Location

Castle Rock is THE outdoor climbing spot for the Bay Area. Other than driving several hours up to the Sierras or down to the Pinnacles, there is no other good climbing area in the Bay Area or Santa Cruz region. We have been state park licensed guides here for over 15 years. The climbing is fun and the views are amazing - all the way to the Pacific Ocean on a clear day! You'll be climbing and ancient sandstone cliffs amongst redwoods trees!
