The adventure

Prepare for a fitness challenge and the hike of a lifetime in beautiful Smith Rock State Park. We’ll start off hiking over the Crooked River. Then a strenuous uphill climb to the top of Misery Ridge for breath taking views of the Cascade Mountains. Here we’ll stop to catch our breath, take pictures, and enjoy local hot tea and snacks. Then we’ll continue past the infamous Monkey Face Rock and down into the Crooked River Canyon. This part is switch back downhill and can be quite slippery! Walking sticks recommended. From here we’ll hike a mostly flat trail along the Crooked river until we cross it for the last time over the bridge we started on. The last part of the hike is uphill to the parking lot where we started. This hike is rated difficult and will take approximately 2 hours to finish. A A $5.00 entrance fee or an Oregon State Park Pass is required to park.
