The adventure

We start fishing the Wynoochee River in December for winter Steelhead. The hatchery Steelhead in this river are larger on average than most runs. There is an A run and B run that takes this fishery into March. We use our drift boat in this river and target these fish by side drifting bait and casting lures. When we feel these fish take the bait, the fight is on. Pound for pound these fish fight as hard as any salmon. The float is roughly 8 miles of river for a 6-8 hour day on the water. These trips can get cold and damp, please dress with the weather in mind.

The plan

1. Meet at the launch site & cast off!

We'll start the day by meeting up at the launch site, the exact location varies based on the weather, I'll message you the address a few days before our trip date. We try to get out on the water by 7:00am, so please arrive a few minutes before so we can get pack up and situated. Please dress for the weather, it's usually a good idea to have a nice water proof jacket with a hood as well as water proof boots or shoes and a hat with a brim.

Your guide

Matt

Matt grew up fishing with his dad and grandfather here in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. They spent their summers fishing in the San Juan Islands teaching him everything they knew about targeting Salmon and operating safely out on the water. Over the years Matt has spent countless hours on the water all over our the PNW, guiding and of course fishing with his family and friends. "Fishing is my passion and there is nothing better than being a part of landing a fish, whether that person be an avid fisherman or a first timer. I have spent countless hours on the water perfecting my craft and take pride in what I do. I will work hard all day to provide you with a fun and safe day on the water." -Matt
